Silent Auction

A deep exploration into the exquisite culture of the peoples of East Africa. Oldoinyo Lengai, an active volcano in the Great African Rift, is the sacred mountain of the Maasai and overlooks the most important ancestral grounds of our ancestors. Jim will explore primitive African peoples still carrying out their ways of life in today’s world of technology and strife. He will take you to some of the most beautiful parts of our planet far removed from the normal tourist venues.

In March of last year Jim happened upon a new set of Hominid trackways in the shadow of Lengai. This led to the realization through Argon/Argon dating that what he found were tracks 125,000 years old, thus pointing to some of the oldest footprints of our species – Homo sapiens – on the planet. In July, he will return to the mountain of God joining geologists and paleoanthropologists to investigate and think about the route our kind walked north out of Africa to inhabit the world.

Join Jim Brett on this exciting evening in the Schaeffer Auditorium.

Wine and Cheese Reception

Silent Auction
As part of this fundraising event, we will be holding a silent auction fo an original oil painting by the talented Pennsylvania artist, David Hughes (follow the link for his biography and samples of his other work). The 11"x14" oil painting is of a Louisiana Waterthrush along Pine Creek (which runs beside Jim Brett's cabin in Berks county). Mr. Hughes has created the painting special for this PICE fundraising event. We would like to thank Mr. Hughes for his generous donation.

The bidding starts at $100 and you can email a bid to info@piceweb.org (mention bid in the subject line). Final bidding will occur at the wine and cheese reception, where the auctioned piece will be on display.
