Tour PA BASS

1800 x 600 Bass Header

At the Pennsylvania Bass field school you spend a week learning all about bass and warm water conservation, focusing on the Susquehanna River watershed!

Thank you to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission for a grant to develop and launch the PA Bass field school in 2016!

PA Bass takes place…

at the CAMP OAK HILL in Nottingham, PA in southern Lancaster County close to Octoraro Lake and the Susquehanna River.  Accommodations include a classroom space, rooms with bunks and shared bathrooms.

The 2016 PA Bass Field School dates are: June 26-30.

A team of fisheries and warm water conservation professionals…

will teach at the PA Bass field school from various agencies and conservation organizations including Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission!

From one of our Alumnus about the impact the Academy had on them:

I am more aware of conservation and how to magnify my efforts towards it. I was also exposed to a fantastic network of organizations dedicated to this purpose. Learning at this age in my life, rather than later, impacted me greatly in how I think about the environment and its inhabitants, and I would fully recommend the program to other young outdoor enthusiasts!

STUDENTS AT THE NEW PA BASS FIELD SCHOOL WILL LEARN:

  • ANATOMY AND LIFE HISTORY OF BASS
  • RIVER AND WATERSHED ECOLOGY focusing on the Susquehanna River Watershed
  • RESEARCH AND MONITORING OF BASS POPULATIONS
  • HOW TO MONITOR THE WATER QUALITY AND HEALTH OF A RIVER
  • HOW TO ENGAGE WITH THE MEDIA
  • HOW TO FISH FOR BASS at Lake Octorara!
  • LEADERSHIP AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS that will support you as you become a CONSERVATION AMBASSADOR!
